Coach Pat Dye was the Head football coach at Auburn University from 1981 until 1992. He built the Auburn football program into a power in the Southeastern Conference. Prior to that, he was the Head coach at Wyoming in 1980, leading the Cowboys to their first winning record in eight years and the second in 12 years. From 1974 to 1979, he was the Head coach at East Carolina University, posting a 48-18-1 record. He built the Pirates into a team that could play with the ACC powers. At the beginning of his career, from 1965 to 1973, he was the Assistant coach at Alabama, in charge of linebackers and recruiting. He coached four All-America linebackers and helped Alabama to two national championships, three unbeaten seasons, five SEC titles and nine straight bowl games. He is currently employed by Auburn University as a Special Assistant to the President. Coach Dye was inducted into the National Football Hall of Fame on December 6, 2005.
